What is it about the word
heritage that conjures so much in the hearts and minds of people everywhere?
Let us define it: HERITAGE = what is or may be inherited.
This is precisely what the group has done in their efforts to help promote a locale and happenings within it. Here then is legacy to be shared with young and old. Call it an educational insight into past, present, and future.
Through numerous projects and exhibitions since its inception over 8 years ago The Langley Mill and Aldercar Heritage Group has strengthened its position in the community, not least by working in partnership with local authorities and other interested parties who have played their part in ensuring the group can and will continue.
Via a slowly building archive of documents, maps and photographs it has created and maintained a library of historic and educational value which effectively encourage and prompt discussion of past events, the writing of books, stories, plays and film scripts to encompass as much as it can. Linked to community output and entertainment we are in a position to increase opportunity and learning.
Through the aid of past grants and now a current one we are working on a new book; this will contain unpublished material and photographs.
As a group we seek constructive ideas, many of which emerge from your stories; nothing we like better than to offer credit where it falls due.
Langley Mill residents - age irrelevant - can and will influence decisions purely by investing in their own, and the experience of others, and ensure valuable input.
The Heritage Group maintains a positive philosophy: to share the results of its work via projects; to offer an advisory service locally and further afield and ensure future projects remain ongoing. Above all, we welcome people who have something to say.
Be a part of your heritage.
